Clickbank Announces PayPal Recurring Billing Option

Clickbank.com announced today that they will be offering PayPal as a recurring billing option later this month.  This announcement is in response to the feeback from it’s vendors as a requested enhancement to it’s services.

In their May newsletter, Clickbank says, “Offering PayPal offers customers more choice when it comes to purchasing recurring billing products. Many consumers prefer PayPal over credit cards so we expect clients to see an increase in recurring product conversion.”

Clickbank also said that “anecdotal evidence” suggests that PayPal users were less likely to request a refund. I’m not sure what “anecdotal evidence” is, but I’m assuming that this might be the case because it takes an extra step or two to cancel a subscription directly through PayPal.  With Clickbank, it takes one step (one email).

This brings up another point.  When using the PayPal option via Clickbank, Clickbank’s policy retains rule, not your business policy.  So if you offer a 30 day guarantee, tough.  Since the transaction takes place through Clickbank, you must offer a 56 day guarantee.
