Email List Building Strategies

You need a list. That’s a given. It’s the one thing above all else that matters most. After it’s built, it’s yours to use any time you want. It’s like a renewable resource that allows you to make money on demand.

OK, but how?

Here’s what you need to build your list:

  • The Squeeze Page
  • Your Bribe
  • The Opt-in Success Page

Your Landing Page – Your opt-in page is the page you send visitors to to build your list. This page is the one that asks them for their email. That’s why it needs to look like a professionally designed page. And have an easy to understand opt-in form. And your call to action must be clear!

Failure to include a great “call to action” will result in failure. This is a definitive message that tells your visitor what to do. You opt-in rates will take a dramatic nose dive without it. Oddly, if you don’t make it clear, people will be confused and end up doing nothing.

One way to really spice up your squeeze page is to add a compelling video to the page. This will grab your visitors attention and keep it. Plus it give you a chance to tell them to opt in multiple times. And you can have the video just tell them to fill in your form after it’s done playing.

If you don’t know how to make video, don’t worry. You can hire freelancers to do this for you for a few hundred dollars. Or you can get email list tools that have everything pre-built for you.

The Incentive – The next thing you need is an incentive to subscribe to your list. You have to give people a compelling reason to give your their email. Most people are very protective of their email address. This means your bribe needs to be very attractive.

You have to provide value in your bribe for it to be good. Then it becomes something people want to get from you. And can benefit from. It could be:

  • A report
  • Some useful software
  • A video
  • An email series

It all boils down to content. And make it both helpful and informative. And nothing sells like “free”. But to get the email, it’s got to be a good offer.

Now, if you don’t know how to create the bribe don’t worry. It’s super easy to hire someone to create it for you. You just pick the topic and they create the training. One easy and effective bribe is a 5-part email training series. Each email will cost between $20 and $25. And whole thing will only cost a hundred and fifty buck.

There are also list building products that include the follow up email series. There are two important things about the email series. First of all it has to give the subscriber what you promised – valuable information. And second, it needs to make you money. Mixing some affiliate products into your email series is a great way to do this. Affiliate products are easy because you don’t have to do anything at all. And you can earn some commissions immediately from your emails.

The Thank You Page – The last bit is the thank you page. This is the page your subscriber sees after they opt in. A great thing to do here is provide some immediate value. That way, they feel glad that they gave you their email address. And it helps you establish the relationship. It also makes them more likely to open your emails.

You can use a “done for you” email marketing system. You can also put the whole thing together on your own. You can either write the content pages on your own. Or pay a freelancer to write the content for you.

Summing it up

It makes no difference whether you build your opt-in, bribe and thank you page. Or if you hire people to do this for you. Or if sign up for a “complete package” solution. It’s just important that you start today building your opt-in list. Because as soon as you’ve got your own list . . . You can basically write your own meal ticket.
